Environmental Community Arts
As a Lead Teaching Artist with ArtWorks for Milwaukee, with student interns, environmental partners, and community volunteers, I managed the design, creation and installation of 10 water-theme painted benches and a 256 square foot recycled bottle cap mosaic utilizing more than 10,000 bottle caps donated by the community in partnership with Northwest Side Community Development Corporation and Century City Triangle Neighborhood Association.
As a research partner with Performance Ecology Project, I collaborate with Jeff Grygny, PhD, to lead interactive nature walks employing dance/theatre practices that increase participants' awareness of and connection to nature. One such walk took place at Havenwoods State Forest with 25 community participants from ArtWorks for Milwaukee, Northwest Side Community Development Corporation, Nearby Nature/Sierra Club, and Friends of Lincoln Park.
